Danny Rohl has talked of his players needing to take more responsibility in the opposition penalty area to get back on the goal trail.
Tuesday evening’s goalless draw with Swansea included no shots on target for the Owls and followed a blank scoresheet against Burnley on Saturday.
Speaking after the Swansea game, Rohl said: “We created good opportunities but they were just opportunities because we then missed getting the shots on target.
“At the end there is some responsibility for the players in the box to finish the action, to be hungry if there is a cross to the second post. They have to be there to get the goal but we miss this willingness at the moment.”
He added: “We are very patient against the ball, we also invest, we sprint, we create but in the end tonight we did not have a shot on goal and then you cannot score. This is the biggest problem we have at present.
“To win games we have to be clinical up front and this is what we need to improve as soon as possible to win games in this league.
“Another clean sheet is a good sign, it means you get a minimum of one point but we want to win games and for this we need to score goals.”
Appeals for a Wednesday penalty in the second half when Jamal Lowe was tackled in the box were turned down. Rohl said there was contact on the player but “the referee decided against us so we have to take it.”
