Wednesday made it no goals and just one point from consecutive games at Hillsborough after a largely low-key and low tempo 0-o draw with Swansea this evening.
The end-of-game stat which showed no efforts on target from the Owls (there was just one from Swansea) summed up a frustrating night for the home crowd with an onfield lack of confidence, particularly going forward and in front of goal, there for all to see.
The draw takes us up one place to 17th on 12 points but with five more Championship games to follow tomorrow night.
Swansea went close to taking the lead after just nine minutes, Jay Fulton diverting Ronald’s cross goalwards but James Beadle getting a vital and exceptional touch to push the ball onto the post.
Our only real chance of the first half came nine minutes later when Djeidi Gassama pulled the ball back to Svante Ingelsson just inside the box but his sidefooted effort went well wide when he should have at least found the target.
Wednesday began the second half with more urgency and our claims for that long-awaited penalty were turned down when ex-Swansea man Jamal Lowe went down under a challenge in the box from Ben Cabango.
At the other end, the visitors had the only shot of the night on target with Beadle producing another fine save, this time with an outstretched leg, to deny Ronald on the hour.
We hit back 20 minutes from time when a trademark low cross from Marvin Johnson to the far post found Pol Valentin but he turned the ball against the post from close range and, despite a late rally, we had to settle for a goalless draw.
