Anthony Musaba is expected to come back into the Wednesday squad for Friday night’s televised Championship clash at Portsmouth.
The forward missed the midweek 0-0 draw with Swansea, having taken a knock against Burnley a few days earlier, but Danny Rohl said: “I am very positive he will be back on Friday, this is a good thing.”
The manager said Josh Windass “made a good step forward” when he came on as a sub against Swansea and is also expected to be in contention for a place in the starting line-up.
Wednesday have failed to score in our last two games – both at Hillsborough – and did not have any shots on target against Swansea.
However, Rohl said he saw a lot of good things against Swansea and also pointed to the stats for that game and the one against Burnley which showed the visitors each had seven touches in our box while the Owls managed some 30 touches in the opposing penalty area in the two matches … but failed to score.
He said it is the whole team, not just the forwards, who have responsibility for scoring and creating goals and added: “It is about how many players we have in the opponent’s box and sometimes we have just two. That is not enough to score. We also need to be ready, sometimes there is a cross to the second post and we have to jump in if we want to score.”
Looking to the Pompey game, he said: “Clearly one thing we need to improve on is the shots on target and we will be ready on Friday night.
“Everyone has had two days recovery, and despite the short time since Swansea, they look very sharp. I can feel the energy.”
