‘We need to fight for everything’ says Rohl ahead of derby clash

Danny Rohl will have to shuffle his Wednesday defensive pack for tomorrow’s derby clash at bottom club Rotherham.

Rohl already has Di’Shon Bernard suspended following his red card against Bristol City last Saturday and he revealed at yesterday’s press conference that ex-Miller Michael Ihiekwe is an injury doubt and faces a late fitness test.

On the plus-side, Akin Famewo is fit to return from injury and fellow defender Dominic Iorfa has suffered no reaction after coming on as a late sub last weekend, following his lengthy lay-off.

Ashley Fletcher is clear for consideration for the squad after his one-game ban.

We go into the match on 32 points, three from the safety line, while Rotherham look to be cut adrift at the bottom on just 19 points.

With the Owls having a home game against Plymouth to follow on Tuesday night and then a televised S6 clash with Leeds next Friday,  Rohl said: “The Rotherham match is a big, big chance for us. For both sides it’s a big opportunity. If we can take the three points it will be another big step forward and then we have two home games in front of us.

“We have to work hard, it will be a hard game, a lot of second balls, duels, set pieces, it will be about good defending but I also think we have good weapons up front to hurt them.

“I am very positive because we have a lot of players ready for this game, they are hungry for this match and we have to go there, in perhaps the toughest away game we will have, and fight for everything.”
