Matt Hamshaw will take interim charge of the Owls for Tuesday evening’s League One clash with Cambridge United at Hillsborough.
First team coach Hamshaw steps in following the club’s decision to terminate Henrik Pedersen’s tenure as Wednesday manager, after successive away defeats against Notts County and Doncaster in the space of five days.
It was seemingly as much the lack of energy, intensity and desire in the performances in those games as the results themselves that saw Pedersen’s departure on Sunday.
Now, while the Wednesday senior management team continue their search for a successor, Hamshaw has the task of getting more out of the squad for the Cambridge match as we look to gain ground again on the division’s early pacemakers.
Jamal Lowe will miss the clash as he serves the second game of his three-fixture ban but Callum Slattery is available following his one-match suspension.
Sil Swinkels could also return to the defence after his hamstring injury and there may be a recall for Harry Gray who was missing from the squad at Doncaster.
Cambridge come into the game in sixth position in the table, two points and two places ahead of Wednesday.
