Wednesday suffered a night of frustration in a goalless draw against MK Dons, hitting the woodwork four times and seeing Ross Wallace sent off.
However, with nearest play-off rivals Cardiff losing at Brentford, we are a point better off than before kick off tonight and it leaves us six points clear of the Welsh side with three games to play – including our final home league match against Cardiff on April 30.
Ipswich remain the only other side below us who can make the play-offs but they are eight points adrift.
Wednesday turned in another weak first-half display, although Daniel Pudil did hit the woodwork, but the half-time introduction of Atdhe Nuhiu helped spark a much-improved second 45 minutes.
Nuhiu headed against an upright and Pudil and Barry Bannan both struck the bar but Wednesday just could not find the all-important goal.
Wallace received his red card seven minutes from time in an off-the-ball incident, immediately after the referee had controversially booked Fernando Forestieri when he adjudged him to have dived when challenged.
