Former Wednesday keeper Peter Wicks has passed away, aged 78.
He made his Owls debut at the age of 16 in a 4-2 defeat at Liverpool in January 1965, making him the club’s third youngest appearance maker and having played just six reserve games before the Anfield match.
Peter was understudy to Ron and Peter Springett during their separate periods at Hillsborough and spent five years with the club, making 14 first-team appearances.
He left us in 1970, joining South African club Cape Town FC for one season before coming back to England.
The London Owls send our deepest sympathies to Peter’s family and friends at this very sad time.
RIP Peter.
