Rohl’s rallying call as Owls face ‘crucial’ three-game spell

Danny Rohl has talked of the need to recreate the emotion of last weekend’s ‘six-pointer’ win at Millwall when we face Bristol City at Hillsborough tomorrow in the first of three crucial games in 11 days.

Victory at The Den took us back to within four points of the Championship survival line after our second win in three matches and, following tomorrow’s S6 match, we face the short trip to bottom club Rotherham on March 2 and then a midweek home clash with Plymouth.

Rohl said ahead of the Bristol City challenge: “When I saw our massive fans after the Millwall game and how my players celebrated the win I think it showed a lot of emotion and hopefully we can bring this emotion back to our stadium from the start on Saturday.

“We need to create something on the pitch, bring the energy to the stands and the fans then take that energy back to the pitch.

“That will be fantastic to have this transfer going from both sides and everybody knows the next three games are massive for us.”

Rohl also confirmed that Dominic Iorfa is fit for consideration for the squad following  his lengthy lay-off and said that Bailey Cadamarteri could return from injury after he was sidelined for the Millwall trip.

Cameron Dawson has been back in training but Rohl said tomorrow’s game would be too soon for Josh Windass.

The manager also spoke of how he arranged a meeting of players and coaches for the day after the 4-0 defeat to relegation rivals Huddersfield earlier this month and that the debrief has played its part in our recent improved form.

He said: “I think sometimes you need to have not just a tactical meeting after such a defeat, I think sometimes you need maybe a different kind of meeting.

“When I look back it was helpful and we have taken steps forward. We spoke about our mindset and what we need. We had a very emotional meeting and it was great to see.

“We were very honest but also very clear in the message we took from this meeting. There was a lot of energy.

“Our reaction has been good from then, we have shown that we are still alive and that was the key message. It was helpful and my players believe in our way and it’s fantastic.

“It is possible for teams to drop in our position after this kind of result but we have turned a negative into a positive and we have a great opportunity to continue this over the next few weeks.”
