Rohl unveiled as new Wednesday manager

Wednesday have today announced Danny Rohl as our new manager.

It is a first managerial post for the 34-year-old German coach and makes him the youngest boss in the EFL.

Rohl has previously worked as an assistant manager at RB Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich and with the German national team.

He began his coaching career at Leipzig after injury ended his playing career and his last position was as assistant to Hansi Flick with Germany, before both were sacked last month after a 4-1 defeat to Japan.

Under-21s boss Neil Thompson took charge of the Wednesday side, following Xisco Munoz’s departure earlier this month, and was on the touchline at Hillsborough for last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Darren Moore’s Huddersfield side.

With the appointment confirmed, Rohl will be in charge for next Saturday’s trip to Watford, Wednesday currently bottom of the Championship after taking just three points from our first 11 league games.
