Wednesday’s players have now received their wages for March.
A brief statement on the club website this morning said: ‘Sheffield Wednesday can confirm that all outstanding player salaries have been satisfied for the month of March.
We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.’
This comes a week after the club revealed in a previous statement on its website that it was not able to pay players for March at that stage, saying: ‘This has occurred as a result of significant sums of money owed to the chairman’s businesses which has in turn impacted on the club’s immediate cashflow.’
This also led to concerns that the club would face a three-window transfer ban from the EFL if the wages were not paid by today … but any immediate worries about that happening have now been ended with this further statement.
