Owls show finishing touches to seal points

An excellent first-half attacking display ensured Wednesday took all three points at Molineux today.

Wolves failed to cope with our slick passing game in the opening 45 minutes and, on this occasion, we had the finishing to match.

Fernando Forestieri took the eye, as he did at Fulham last week, and put us ahead after 15 minutes, firing home from the penalty spot after being taken out by a reckless Matt Doherty challenge in the box.

Barry Bannan missed a great chance to make it two but Kieran Lee did so on the half-hour mark, driving home a pull back from the recalled Lucas Joao after more excellent work from Forestieri.

Wolves defender Kortney Hause was inches away from putting through his own goal before the break as Wednesday continued to take the game to the hosts.

The home side were more of a threat after the interval, Keiren Westwood dealing with a header from Hause before Ivan Cavalerio dragged their best chance of the game wide with ten minutes remaining.

The nearest Wednesday came to a third goal in the second half was when sub Steven Fletcher just failed to connect with Ross Wallace’s shot-come-cross and we saw out the game for a deserved three points, victory taking us up to seventh place and within a point of the play-offs.
