Owls have seven players on international duty

Wednesday will have seven players on international duty after our game at Ipswich on Saturday.

Yorkshire-born Bailey Cadamarteri , who was initially reported to have been named in the Jamaica squad as he qualifies via heritage, has opted to join up with the England under-19 squad for friendlies in Morocco, against the hosts on March 21 and the USA on March 24.

Wednesday team-mate Di’Shon Bernard will be in the Jamaica squad for their Concacaf Nations League semi final against the USA in Texas on March 21.

The international break will also see Ike Ugbo away with Canada when they take on Trinidad and Tobago in a Concacaf Nations League play-off in the USA on March 23. Meanwhile, youngster Joey Phuthi has been called up for the senior Zimbabwe squad for the first time for their friendly against Zambia on March 23.

Ian Poveda, on loan from Leeds, has been selected for the Colombia squad for their friendlies against Spain and Romania. The game against Spain is being played at West Ham’s London Stadium on March 22 with the Romania match at Atletico Madrid’s ground on March 26.

And, back with the youngsters, loanee keeper James Beadle has been named  in the England under-20s squad travelling to take on their counterparts from Poland on March 22 and then the Czech Republic on March 26, both in the Elite League competition.

Completing the seven Owls in international action, fellow keeper Pierce Charles receives a first call-up to the Northern Ireland under-21s squad for their friendly away to the Czech Republic on March 21 and then in Serbia for a European Championship under-21 qualifier on March 26.

Added to these call-ups, some of the Owls academy players have been picked to represent their countries at their relevant age levels.
