Mixed news on injuries ahead of Cardiff clash

Danny Rohl had good and bad news on the injury front as Wednesday prepare for another important game at home to Cardiff on Saturday.

The Owls boss confirmed that Callum Paterson and Bambo Diaby will be fit for the match, if selected, after both picking up injuries in the ‘six-pointer’ victory over QPR last Saturday while Rohl will make a late decision on the fitness of Josh Windass and Michael Smith.

However, John Buckley underwent an operation on Thursday on a shoulder injury sustained after being fouled against QPR, which saw him have to leave the field just 14 minutes after coming on as a second-half sub.

He is likely to be ruled out for several weeks and there is a possibility he could return early to parent club, Blackburn, as there is a clause in the season-long loan agreement that means Rovers are able to recall the player in January.

The late win over QPR took our recent run to only one defeat in the last five games and lifted us to within six points of safety.

Cardiff sit in mid-table but have lost four of their last five matches.
