Matias fires much-changed Owls to point

Carlos Carvalhal saluted his much-changed Wednesday side after we earned a 1-1 draw at Leeds today.

Carvalhal made six changes following the poor midweek performance against Reading, recalling players like Liam Palmer, Jose Semedo and Kieran Lee to the starting line-up, and said after the display at Elland Road: “I made a lot of changes to the team and that is why we have the squad. We have good players who can play in positions all over the pitch and the players who came in today did well for the team.”

Marco Matias put us ahead on 36 minutes with probably one of the Championship strikes of the season, lifting the ball over a Leeds defender before volleying home from the edge of the box in spectacular fashion.

However, Leeds dominated after the interval and it was no surprise when Chris Wood turned in the equaliser from close range just after the hour.

Liam Palmer might have snatched a winner with a header but Leeds also had their chances in the closing stages.

Price, Palmer, Lees, Sasso, Wiggins, Hutchinson, Lee. Semedo (Lopez 85), Sougou (Hunt 62), Matias (Helan 75), Nuhiu.
