Former Wednesday forward, Keith Ellis, has passed away, aged 90.

Sheffield-born Keith made his Owls debut in March 1955 when we defeated Preston North End 2-0 at Hillsborough and, although his early career was interrupted when he was called up for National Service, he went on to hit 60 goals in 118 games.

Keith enjoyed a prolific period at the start of the sixties as Wednesday finished fifth and then runners-up in what was at that time the top-flight Division One.

He also scored a hat-trick in a famous 7-2 FA Cup win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in February 1961, with his final appearance for the Owls coming in October 1963 in a 1-0 home victory against Aston Villa.

Following this, he then moved to Scunthorpe United and also played for Cardiff and Lincoln before retiring from the game in 1965.

Keith died on October 11 and the London Owls send our sincere sympathies to his family and friends at this very sad time.
