Changes likely as Owls look for much-needed win at Cheltenham

Wednesday take on Cheltenham Town tonight searching for a much-needed win to get our automatic promotion push back on course after two successive defeats.

The loss at Barnsley and then Sunday’s dreadful showing in the 1-0 reverse at bottom club Forest Green has put us under severe pressure in the run-in to try to regain an automatic spot back to the Championship.

We remain two points behind leaders Plymouth and now with just one game in hand but in the knowledge that victory at Cheltenham would take us back to the top of the table in the chase for one of those first two places.

In addition, Wednesday are level on matches played with third-placed Ipswich, leading them by three points, and are six clear of Barnsley in fourth, the latter having played the same number of games after they went down 3-1 at Exeter last night.

Darren Moore can be expected to make changes this evening after Sunday’s ‘no-show’ performance with Tyreeq Bakinson and Dennis Adeniran, both ineffective in midfield after starting at Forest Green, likely to find themselves back on the bench.

This would seemingly mean a recall to the starting line-up for Will Vaulks while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who came on with Vaulks as subs during the second half on Sunday, looking for a start as well.

Mallik Wilks can also be expected to be in the squad this evening after his long injury lay-off.

Cheltenham are unbeaten in their last four league games, having won three of them, and sit in 17th position.
