Carlos Carvalhal has urged the fans to get right behind the team on Saturday when Wednesday return to Hlllsborough after a four-week absence.
With the international break, followed by away games at Fulham and Wolves, it is a month since the Owls were in action at S6 … when we went down 2-1 to Ipswich in a hugely disappointing display. Now Carvalhal has asked the supporters to play their part as the Owls face three out of the next four games at S6, starting with Preston on Saturday.
The head coach spoke today of how the team came back strongly with a draw at Fulham and victory at Wolves after the Ipswich defeat, keeping us very much in the hunt for a top six spot and he asked the supporters to be the 12th man against Preston.
He said the team is looking forward to playing at Hillsborough again and added: “Nobody can beat us at Hillsborough when our fans show 100 per cent support. I ask them to come back again and show the support my players deserve.
“We have three of our next four games at home and the fans can play an important part in this.”
He added: “If they create a noisy stadium, support our players and give them confidence, even if they make a mistake, all the opponents that we play so far – Brighton in the play-off semis, Arsenal and so on – when we have this kind of environment in Hillsborough then nobody beats us.”
Carvalhal said Wednesday have no new injury problems for the Preston game and that young keeper Joe Wildsmith is now back in full training.
