Stuart Gray swiftly turned his attentions to Saturday’s Championship game at Cardiff after the second-half Capital One Cup thrashing at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
Having witnessed the Owls concede seven goals in 45 minutes to Manchester City, Gray said: “We will bounce back, I can assure you of that. We will pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and make sure we are ready for Cardiff on Saturday.”
Having decided to field a weakened team against City, Gray can be expected to recall Keiren Westwood, Glenn Loovens, Jose Semedo and Atdhe Nuhiu to the starting line-up at Cardiff.
Meanwhile, Kamil Zayatte has been suspended for one game following his sending off at the Etihad.
Reflecting on the defeat to City, Gray said: “It just showed the difference between the two divisions. Players at this level take their chances, they find their passes and that is the difference.
“Manchester City were clinical in that second half. Before that, I thought we did okay but if you allow a team like City the time to punish you, they will.”
He added: “We came here to get a result and in the first half we did really well.
“But when a team like Manchester City gets the bit between their teeth, they are very difficult to stop.”
