Wednesday can be expected to field a much-changed side for this evening’s Papa Johns Trophy group match at home to Burton Albion.
Darren Moore will probably take the opportunity to leave several of those who faced Ipswich on Saturday out of the starting line-up, also resting some altogether, while at the same time giving the rest of the squad and one or two youngsters a chance to step up.
If tonight’s match ends in a draw after 90 minutes then both sides will be awarded a point but the tie will also go to a penalty shootout, with the winner gaining an additional point in the group.
We began our trophy campaign with a 3-1 defeat at Bradford last month and have two further group games, against Burton tonight and then at home to Leicester City under-21s next month.
The match kicks off at 7pm.
