Wednesday look to return to winning ways after the international break when we take on Cardiff at Hillsborough tomorrow lunchtime.
We signed off a fortnight ago with a narrow 1-0 defeat at Sheff U and sit in 15th place on 18 points, although Plymouth will overtake us, at least temporarily, if they win at home to Watford tonight as they have 16 points.
Speaking about our current position, Danny Rohl said at today’s press conference: “We always want to be higher up the table but a big factor for me is that we have 12 points more than at the same stage last season.
“We have had games where we could have taken more points also and we must improve this. The table is close in both directions and we have ambitions, always.”
Michael Ihiekwe could return to the squad after a six-week injury lay-off while Nathaniel Chalobah continued his comeback this week with 45 minutes for the under-21s.
Rohl said of the midfielder: “Nathaniel had a good step forward on Monday with the under-21s.
“He needs minutes, he needs training but looking at the schedule he will get an opportunity.”
Opponents Cardiff are three places off the bottom of the Championship, on 15 points.
The game kicks off at 12.30pm.
