Wednesday held in first game of the Munoz era

Xisco Munoz had to settle for a draw in his first game as Wednesday manager after the Owls were held 1-1 in a friendly at York City this afternoon.

The new boss saw the Owls take a first-half lead but the hosts came back in the second half and grabbed an equaliser to ensure honours were even after our opening warm-up match.

Dominic Iorfa went close with a header on 17 minutes and Lee Gregory saw his angled effort saved soon afterwards.

However, Wednesday did go into the lead on 26 minutes, Josh Windass taking advantage of a poor back pass and slotting home.

The closest York came to a goal in the first half  was when Lenell John-Lewis was just off-target from close-range.

Wednesday made several changes at the interval and during the second period, while the home side brought on ex-Owls keeper David Stockdale, and York were back on level terms just before the hour when Finlay Barnes shot home from inside the box.

The Owls generally failed to match their first-half display and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
