Danny Rohl was delighted to see his squad bounce back from Friday’s dreadful display at Stoke to take three deserved points against Middlesbrough at S6 this afternoon.
The manager was critical of his squad after the shocking performance in the Potteries but was full of praise for them after the 2-1 success over Boro.
After seeing us also record a first home win since New Year’s Day, Rohl said: “I am proud of my players, they were outstanding today and this was the perfect response for me.
“We played with big momentum and came back from one blow, then Pierce saved the penalty and, at that moment, the noise was incredible.
“The supporters played their part in this win, thank you to them, because the atmosphere was fantastic.
“We played front-foot football at both ends of the pitch, played with momentum and fully deserved this win.
“Today the players take the flowers. For me, today is all about them, they deserve all the credit they will receive.”
On Wednesday’s late winner, he added: “I said 20 minutes before the end to my coaches that we deserved more than just one point and that the goal was coming.”
