Stuart Gray saluted Wednesday’s all-round performance after Giles Coke’s first-half effort secured an opening day three points at Brighton.
Coke struck shortly before half-time in a game of limited goalscoring opportunities and against a Brighton side lacking the creative threat of recent years
Ex-Owl Chris O’Grady missed the home side’s best opening in the second half after they were reduced to 10 men when Andrew Crofts was red-carded for a challenge on Sam Hutchinson.
Gray said: “It was nothing more than we deserved because I thought we were excellent all over the park.
“We controlled the game and maybe we could have won the game more comfortably.”
