‘We can turn things around’ says Monk

Garry Monk believes he can turn around results at Hillsborough, despite another woeful display at Rotherham this evening.

Speaking after seeing Wednesday make it three defeats in a row to leave us still on minus four points, the Owls boss said: “I believe in what I do and I believe in these players.

“They are good enough to get the club out of this situation. I am confident the team can turn it around.”

Reflecting on a first 45 minutes that saw us concede three goals, lose Aden Flint to injury and have Tom Lees sent off, Monk said: “Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong in the first half.”

He added: “If you make mistakes and you compound them with other mistakes like we did in the first half, you can’t expect to win games.

“It has not been anywhere near good enough in the last two games. There’s a fragility in terms of when things go against us.”

Tom Lees will miss at least Saturday’s game at Wycombe after his straight red card and Monk said Flint will be assessed after suffering a hamstring injury.
