Wednesday’s dreadful home form continued tonight when we finished well beaten – and with ten men – in a two-goal defeat to high-flying Bournemouth.
The visitors looked the better side in the first-half with Wednesday’s only real threat coming from a Jacques Maghoma effort, while Keiren Westwood kept us in the game at the other end.
However, the turning point came just before the hour when Royston Drenthe received a second yellow card for a foul and, within minutes, we found ourselves two-down with goals coming from Andrew Surman and Ryan Fraser.
Wednesday never looked like getting back into the game after that while Bournemouth, who went to the top of the table after this result, might easily have extended their lead.
For the Owls it means just one win in eight league games at Hillsborough this season and no victories in the last eight matches.
