Stuart Gray voiced his concerns after Wednesday’s latest home flop against Bournemouth.
Having witnessed his side crumble to a gutless 2-0 defeat, Gray said: “That was one of the worst performances since I’ve been involved at the club.
“We showed them too much respect, didn’t get in amongst them and didn’t get a tackle in until the 85th minute.”
Gray, who said the fans were quite right to boo the players off at the final whistle, added: “When we did have some decent play, we had far too many players who didn’t want to take any responsibility.”
The head coach said he had a good meeting with the players after the game and there were a few home truths aired.
He said he was also disappointed with the way the team responded to losing Royston Drenthe to a red card, explaining: “We looked like a beaten team when Royston got sent off.”
