Wednesday will again be without Sam Hutchinson in midfield for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn.
The midfielder sits out the Ewood Park clash as he serves the second game of his two-match ban and Carlos Carvalhal has to decide whether to stick with Jose Semedo as his replacement, as he did for Saturday’s win over Huddersfield.
Semedo was replaced by Lewis McGugan on 68 minutes against the Terriers, with the Owls trailing 1-0 as Carvalhal looked for more attacking options. He looked a little off the pace but the head coach could continue with Semedo in the starting line-up, against a Blackburn side playing their first home game under new manager Paul Lambert, with ex-Owls boss Alan Irvine as his assistant.
Wednesday also wait to see if Barry Bannan plays any part in the game following his knee injury or whether the game has come too early in his recovery. His industry and trickery was lacking against Huddersfield and Kieran Lee appeared to miss his midfield partner’s link-up play.
Lucas Joao may also return to the starting line-up in place of Atdhe Nuhiu, after coming on as sub last Saturday and scoring two goals in our fightback.
The Owls will be backed by excellent support with more than 3,000 tickets sold by lunchtime on Thursday.
