Danny Rohl reflected on the early second-half Blackburn goal that paved the way for their eventual 2-2 draw after we had surged into a 2-0 interval lead at Ewood Park.
A 51st minute Tyrhys Dolan header put the home side back in the game after we totally outplayed them in the first 45 minutes and Rohl said afterwards: “”Of course it is disappointing when you saw the first half because, except for the early chance they had, I think we controlled the game with some really good football.
“But they then used the moment of their first goal. We lost our men at the corner, they score and then it became a tough game. Two-nil is always dangerous, it just needs one moment and the home team can be back on.
“But I must say the team invested again, the right attitude, the mentality, there was not a feeling that we are playing for nothing.
“There was a feeling that we really wanted to win and even now in the dressing room they are disappointed for this.”
Rohl made four changes from Saturday’s late Hillsborough defeat to Hull with Dominic Iorfa ruled out and Barry Bannan only on the subs’ bench after not being able to take part in the warm-up.
He added: “We have had a very solid season. We are more looking up than down, there is nothing to lose and I think we have built up a good foundation.
“Now I really want on Saturday our first home win in a long, long time. We need a good performance, a good togetherness and if we have that, then we have a chance.”
