Danny Rohl said he was proud of his Wednesday players after today’s win over Championship leaders West Brom at S6 … and then called for them to show the consistency needed to take us further up the table.
The 3-2 success over the Baggies lifts us up into 18th place and the manager, who also revealed afterwards he had held individual meetings with the starting eleven prior to the game, said afterwards: “I am proud of my team, we showed a lot of character to win the game.
“But this is a small step today, nothing more. We now have two away games coming up, let’s see how consistent we can be on Wednesday at Bristol City.
“In my opinion, we have five points less than we should have from the last three games. We need to give a consistency of performance to the highest level because for us it is possible to take more and more points in this league if we always perform at 100 per cent.
“This was a small step today and if we win at Bristol that will be another small step forward.”
Rohl added: “My players know my demands, we had individual meetings with all the team before the game … and it was a 12:30 kick-off.
“We spoke about what we can expect today, what we can exploit and some of these things we did very well.
“Now we keep moving forward, the Championship is the most demanding division and we have to be ready for all these demands.”
The manager also talked of the team showing the right mentality to score a winner after being pegged back to 2-2 but expressed disappointment at the atmosphere at Hillsborough today, commenting: “I have to say that when we went 3-2 up it was the first time in the stadium that I felt the energy from the stands. Even when we had a 2-0 lead it was very quiet and I think my team deserved more support.”
