Wednesday’s squad will play our scheduled Championship opener at Leicester City on Sunday afternoon, according to Sky Sports News.
They are reporting that the game will go ahead after “serious conversations” among the players and apparently following legal advice that they might be in breach of contract if they decided not to play the match.
Last weekend, the squad withdrew from a planned friendly at Burnley in protest over continued delayed payment of wages on time to players and non-football staff at the club and there were reports that this could happen again for the Leicester fixture.
Wednesday fans have shown their support for the team by selling out our 3,200 allocation for the game and they are planning a pre-match protest aimed at owner Dejphon Chansiri by not taking up their seats until five minutes after kick off.
Leicester City have reportedly also been informed that a small aircraft has been chartered by supporters to fly above the stadium for around 15 minutes both before and at the start of the match, displaying a message to Mr Chansiri.
The match is live on Sky Sports on Sunday, kick off 4.30pm.
