Gabriel Otegbayo was on the bench for the Republic of Ireland under-21s in their friendly against Sweden on Thursday evening.
The Swedish side won 2-0 with two second-half goals in a match moved from a lunchtime kick off to the evening and switched to a different venue in Marbella after a severe weather warning and heavy rainfall in the area.
The Republic youngsters have a chance to level matters on Sunday when they take on Sweden again in another friendly.
Meanwhile, Owls loanee Shea Charles, pictured, has been named Northern Ireland captain for their home Nations League game with Belarus this evening (Friday), becoming the country’s youngest skipper at the same time.
Charles, 21, also follows in the footsteps of Wednesday favourite of the nineties, Nigel Worthington, who was a former captain of Northern Ireland.
