Wednesday will wait on the fitness of Lee Gregory ahead of tomorrow’s home match with Charlton.
Gregory, who limped off just before half time in the midweek Carabao Cup win over Sunderland after ‘feeling some tightness’, was back training today and Darren Moore said the striker will have a test tomorrow before deciding whether he will be fit to start.
Michael Smith is expected to be back training on grass on Monday while Moore also confirmed that defender Akin Famewo will be out for a long period after suffering a serious injury at MK Dons.
Moore said that Famewo’s lengthy lay-off means Wednesday may well try to bring in another central defender before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. The manager has already spoken about the possibility of signing another striker or two and hinted today that he could also look to recruit another keeper as cover for David Stockdale and Cameron Dawson.
We go into the Charlton game on four points from two matches, the same record as our opponents, and with two away trips to follow – at Peterborough and then Bolton – Moore said: “We have had eight bodies come in to the group, we are learning and developing all the time and certainly after these next seven days we will see where this group is at.”
