Wednesday will be waiting for fitness updates on the central defensive partnership of Glenn Loovens and Tom Lees – and others – ahead of Sunday lunchtime’s TV game with Derby at Hillsborough.
Both Lees and Loovens limped off during the Capital One Cup defeat at Stoke and Carlos Carvalhal will be looking for positive reports in the coming days before the Derby clash.
In addition, Jack Hunt was subbed at half time after suffering an injury and Carvalhal said Rhoys Wiggins, Ross Wallace and Gary Hooper all took knocks in the Britannia Stadium cup tie.
He will be hoping to welcome Barry Bannan back into the midfield after his knee injury, along with keeper Keiren Westwood who suffered an achilles problem at Blackburn last Saturday.
