‘No better job’ says Wednesdayite Weaver

Lifelong Wednesday fan Nicky Weaver has been appointed as our first team goalkeeping coach.

Weaver steps up from a similar role with the academy and replaces Andy Rhodes, who moved earlier in the summer to become assistant manager at Oldham.

Thirty-nine-year-old Weaver had a loan spell with us in the 2005-6 season and signed permanently in 2010, staying for three years.

Weaver, who was also a Young Owl as a schoolboy, said: “Sheffield Wednesday first team goalkeeping coach – it sounds fantastic. For me, there is no better job in the country because this is my club.”
