Wednesday fans will have to wait to see if they get a first look at new loan signing Frederico Venancio at Fulham tomorrow … and there are still question marks over whether Fernando Forestieri and Glenn Loovens will also make the squad.
Carlos Carvalhal said on Friday that the club was still waiting for clearance from the authorities to allow Venancio to be considered for the 18 at Craven Cottage. He added that, if the clearance goes through, then the Portuguese defender will be in the squad but that he would prefer him not to be in the starting line-up.
The head coach said: “He doesn’t know his colleagues and he needs some time. It’s not a question of whether he is ready physically because he has been playing in Portugal.
“If I can protect him a little so he can get to know his colleagues, I will.
“If we need him, he will play. Absolutely sure. And if the documents are ready, he will be involved in the 18.”
Loovens was back in light training yesterday after suffering a back injury against QPR while Carvalhal could bring Forestieri back into the squad at Fulham.
He has been left out of the team for the last two games after a reported training ground bust-up with Sam Winnall but Carvalhal has indicated that the player is now ready to push for a recall.
