Munoz says sorry to fans after Wednesday ‘no-show’

Manager Xisco Munoz apologised to the Wednesday fans after the shocking showing against Ipswich at Hillsborough this afternoon.

Only keeper Devis Vasquez could take any praise from the 1-0 defeat, keeping the scoreline down to 1-0 while the Owls failed to get a shot on target, and Munoz said afterwards: “I can only say sorry to the fans. Today we went two steps back. We gave a good reaction second half but not enough

“I don’t like what I saw today. We need to try to find balance and stay 90 minutes in games. I’m very disappointed first half. We need to perform for 90 minutes and again I can only say sorry to the fans.”

Asked about whether he was feeling under pressure after failing to win any of his six league games since taking charge of the Owls, the manager said:  “No. We need to win of course, but I don’t feel the pressure about that. We feel we can improve some situations. I understand the process.”

Munoz confirmed that skipper Barry Bannan missed the game through injury and added: “We will see. I don’t know exactly what it is with him. Maybe he could play on Tuesday against Middlesbrough.”
