Moore: Subs gave us the energy that was lacking

Darren Moore spoke of Wednesday lacking energy in the first half against Charlton today and of how his substitutions after the break swung the game our way.

He said: “Charlton have got wonderful rotation on the left and right hand side of the pitch.

“We couldn’t get to grips with it in the first half and we didn’t seem to have that energy today.

“We got in at half-time and I said we needed 20 to 30 per cent more energy.

“We made three changes soon after half time. I spoke about the subs giving us energy and certainly Tyreeq, George and Greggers coming on gave us that impetus.

”That is nothing against the boys who came off as they were part of the win and we made a couple more later in the game when one or two were flagging, to get us over the line.

“Today was a classic game where we had to dig deep and go get a win. The squad got the win today.”

Moore added: “I was pleased with the winning goal. It was a great ball in from Josh and I am so pleased for Tyreeq to get in on the end of the cross. I thought he brought some energy in there.

“The goal came at the right time and it seemed to knock the stuffing out of them. It gave us the impetus and something to hold on to.”

With victory taking us into second in the table, the boss said: “I know what I want the team to look like and we are edging towards there with the calibre of players we have brought in.
