Jos Luhukay defended his decision not to name a striker in his starting line-up at Millwall.
The Owls boss left Lucas Joao and Atdhe Nuhiu on the bench but pointed to needing to protect his players during the busy schedule.
He added: “Players are not able to play every third day and give 100 per cent.”
Luhukay, who was unhappy with the manner in which we conceded the two goals, added that the problems at Millwall were because of defensive deficiencies, rather than a lack of attacking intent.
He said that, after the first five minutes, we could not find a way to play our normal game of building from the back, instead delivering long passes, which is not the style we want to play.
