Leeds United youngster Harry Gray has joined Wednesday on a season-long loan.

Seventeen-year-old forward Gray has linked up with the squad for pre-season training at St George’s Park and said of the loan move: “There were quite a few clubs interested but it was an easy decision because this is such a big club.

“It’s crazy to think about 24,000 season tickets in League One and the timing is perfect, as I have a full pre-season to settle in.

“Hillsborough is a special stadium when the fans get going and I think this year, with everything that’s going on around the place, it should be unbelievable and hopefully a season to remember. It’s the perfect place for me.”

Sporting Director, Simon Wilson, said: “Harry has an elite record in youth football and proved last season that he can translate his qualities to a senior environment.

“In challenging circumstances, he delivered a good attacking impact in this league and his experiences on loan with Rotherham United will provide solid foundations for him to build from.

“Our playing identity will demand that we create a lot of opportunities and we expect Harry to be a big threat to our opponents. We are thankful to Leeds United for trusting us with the next phase of his development and look forward to bringing him into the group.”

Gray is rated as one of the top young prospects at Elland Road. He rose to the under-18 level ahead of his years and made his Championship debut aged 16.

Last season he hit 11 goals in 13 games in their under-21s before spending the second half of the season on loan at Rotherham.

He is the brother of Tottenham’s Archie Gray and great nephew of Leeds legend Eddie Gray.
