Danny Rohl has given a mixed injury update as Wednesday prepare for tomorrow’s home clash against Burnley.
Di’Shon Bernard is expected to have recovered from the injury that forced him to return early from the Jamaica squad while Liam Palmer could be fit for selection after a knock kept him out of the team at Coventry before the international break.
Rohl added that he might also decide not to field Josh Windass on Saturday. He missed the Coventry win through a slight injury, the manager explaining further: “Josh was back on the grass today (Thursday), we will see how close he is to coming back in the team on Saturday.
“In the next three weeks we have games coming up on Tuesday, Friday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Sunday.
“Sometimes it’s more helpful that he misses maybe one or two matches with his small injury. The other reason he missed Coventry is because his wife has had a baby, this is the other point why he was not available.”
Michael Ihiekwe is expected to miss out against Burnley with a slight achilles problem while long-term injury casualty Nathaniel Chalobah is unlikely to return until after the third international break next month.
On the challenge of facing Burnley, Rohl said: “We have a squad that is very competitive and that gives me a good feeling.
“We have to be very focussed all the time against Burnley but we have to do our things right and bring our game onto the pitch.
“We know we have one big advantage of playing at home with our fans being right behind us.
“And, at the moment, I am very happy because I know in the coming weeks we will need everyone and we have shown in the Coventry game what it means to have fresh legs in key positions.”
Two wins and a draw in our three games before the international break lifted us into 15th place in the Championship.
