Loanee defender Harry Amass has recovered from injury and is set to be in the squad for Wednesday’s trip to Portsmouth tomorrow.

Amass suffered a groin problem which forced him off during last Saturday’s home defeat to Bristol City but Henrik Pedersen has confirmed the player is ready to return after suffering no further reaction in training.

However, Olaf Kobacki and Reece Johnson are both ruled out of the Pompey game after picking up first-half injuries in the midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby.

Kobacki is sidelined with a groin problem until after the next international break while Johnson is expected to be out for up to three weeks with a foot injury.

Pedersen said he hopes Johnson can return before the next break, with Nathaniel Chalobah also possibly returning around the same time after his injury lay-off.

The Wednesday boss said ahead of the Portsmouth test: “To get a positive result we will need to match their intensity for the full 95 minutes, handle long balls and second balls effectively and defend against deep runs and crosses.

“We want to come away with our first win and, to achieve this, we need a very solid defensive foundation and to minimise turnovers.

“We will need a big courage, big intensity and big discipline to execute our match plan.”

We go into the game seeking a first Championship win of the season and with just one point from five matches, while Portsmouth have taken eight points from their five outings.

The Owls have won three of our last five league trips to Fratton Park, drawing the other two.
