Ihiekwe ruled out ‘for at least two months’ says manager

Michael Ihiekwe is Wednesday’s latest injury casualty and looks like being ruled out for at least two months.

He limped off during last week’s FA Cup win over Mansfield and Darren Moore revealed after today’s draw at Derby that the central defender has suffered knee ligament damage, although he will not need surgery.

The manager said: “The results of the scan were not what we had hoped for.

“We’re going to lose Michael for a couple of months at least. It’s a knee ligament injury so he’s going to be out for a while.

“It’s a bitter blow but we have to get on with it.

“To balance that I am so pleased to have Akin Famewo come back into the squad today. He will have another week on the grass as he continues to get stronger and stronger.”

Lee Gregory was also sidelined today after taking a knock against Mansfield and Josh Windass and George Byers both missed out as they continue their recoveries from injury.

Moore added: “I don’t expect Lee Gregory to be out for long and George is getting there. With Josh, he wasn’t quite ready for today but we will see where we are with him next week in the build-up to Exeter.”
