How Wednesday players fared in internationals

Brothers Pierce and Shea Charles both played the full game in Northern Ireland’s 1-1 friendly draw with Switzerland at Windsor Park on Friday night.

The hosts took the lead through a cracking 20-yarder from Isaac Price on 16 minutes but Switzerland ensured the draw with a 30th minute headed equaliser from Vincent Sierro.

James Beadle was in goal for the England under-21s in their eventful 5-3 friendly defeat to France in Lorient, also on Friday evening.

The Young Lions took the lead on two minutes through James McAtee but France were level soon afterwards and went 3-1 ahead before Harvey Elliott made it  3-2 shortly before the break.

The hosts restored their two-goal lead on 55 minutes before Liam Delap scored just after the hour to bring up a 4-3 scoreline. Elliott then missed from the penalty spot, which would have levelled the scores, and France went on to complete the scoring with the eighth goal of the night 14 minutes from time.

There was still time for Omari Hutchinson to be red-carded on 85 minutes, just seven minutes after coming on as a sub.

Meanwhile, young Wednesday defender Gabriel Otegbayo did not see any action as his Republic of Ireland under-21s went down 2-0 in a friendly against Scotland in Spain.
