Stuart Gray will be naming the club’s retained list next week … but two players already look set to say farewell.
Anthony Gardner, who was skippering the side at the start of the season but has not played since suffering a serious achilles injury against Middlesbrough in August, has indicated on social media that his Hillsborough career is over.
Gardner joined us two years ago on a free transfer from Crystal Palace and made 42 appearances before suffering the achilles injury.
Meanwhile Bury chairman, Stewart Day, is reported to have announced at the club’s awards night this evening that they are signing Owls winger Danny Mayor on a three-year deal.
Mayor has been on loan to the Shakers since last year after failing to make his mark at Wednesday, following his move from Preston in 2012. He has made eight appearances for us but now seems ready to leave the club.
