Ex-Wednesday man Lewis McGugan is set to try to kickstart his career when his new club Northampton go to Peterborough in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening.
McGugan left Hillsborough by mutual consent at the end of August after failing to figure in Carlos Carvalhal’s plans and made his last first team appearance for us back on the last day of the 2015-16 season.
He has now joined division one Cobblers until January, linking up again with manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who was a coach at Forest when McGugan was at the City Ground.
He is looking to make his debut against the Posh and McGugan, who has been training with Northampton in recent weeks, said: “It has been a long time since I have been involved in any kind of game, especially a competitive game, which is completely different to any kind of under-23 game, or training ground game.
“It is going to be a shock to the system, but I am going to be doing everything I can to get back up to speed as quckly as possible.”
