‘Do you want to be near the top or bottom?’

Jos Luhukay’s challenge to his players after a poor first half display at Bristol City inspired the side to a 2-1 win and lifted us into a play-off placing.

The Owls boss was unhappy with Wednesday’s first 45 minutes, saying that we allowed the home side too much control and too many chances.

He explained: “I said to the players at half time, where do you want be in the table? Do you want to be near the top, or do you want to be near the bottom? Show me where you want to be.”

His words appeared to galvanise the side and they produced a much-improved second-half display to take all three points and move into sixth position ahead of the international break.

Luhukay said: “My players gave the response I wanted and I’m so proud of my team and proud of that performance.

“In the second half we played some very good football. We created more chances and got the goals.”
