Darren’s words of praise for goalscoring duo

Darren Moore had particular words of praise for Josh Windass and Alex Mighten as their goals booked the Owls a place in Monday’s FA Cup second round draw.

Speaking after our 2-0 defeat of Morecambe at Hillsborough this evening, the Owls boss said: “We are pleased to get into the second round. I thought we dominated for long spells.

“It was a wonderful strike from Josh Windass for the goal and I was pleased for Alex – he looked a constant threat. He has got wonderful feet. For him to have got the goal will have done him the world of good.

“Josh took his goal really, really well. He was intelligent today in the way he created the overloads.”

Moore, who also highlighted the performance of Mallik Wilks, said Cameron Dawson had been in contention for a starting place either this evening or for the EFL Cup third round tie at Southampton on Wednesday evening, but he misses out on both due to having suffered concussion in a freak training ground incident.

A shot from Josh Windass hit an upright and rebounded into Dawson’s face, causing concussion and he now has to follow the seven-day protocols.

Jack Hunt will be assessed in the next couple of days after being forced off in the second half with what appears to be a groin injury.
