Darren’s recipe for a successful season at S6

Darren Moore has called for consistency, hard work and togetherness from his new-look Wednesday squad as we look to bounce straight back into the Championship … starting at Charlton in tomorrow’s early evening Sky Sports clash.

Moore, who has been extremely active in the transfer market this summer as he carried out much-needed changes to the squad, said ahead of the trip to London: “We must show consistency, we will see a lot of quality football played in this league this season. Everybody has their part to play.

“The approach of togetherness, hard work and moving forward together – if we do all that we will overcome the hurdles.”

Josh Windass misses the game after having surgery on his hamstring injury and Mide Shodipo will sit out the Charlton trip with a muscle strain.

Manager Moore says he is also looking forward to having the backing of 3,000-plus Wednesday supporters: “That will be another experience for me, I’m looking forward to the away travel that we will take to get behind the team.

“I can’t wait to hear their voices and we’re very grateful for the support and their efforts going down there.”

As for Charlton, Moore said: “When you look at what Nigel Adkins did with them last season, they’ve brought some good players in and he’s done a magnificent job.

“They are well organised and they play some good stuff as a group. It’s an exciting game for the opening day of the season.”
