Danny’s reflections on the Swansea draw

Danny Rohl reflected on the ifs, buts and maybes after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Swansea.

Following a game which saw us spurn chances to take all three points, particularly in the closing stages, Rohl said: “At first we must take the point. We wanted the win, of course we did, and we created chances, the players gave absolutely everything.

“A second goal would have been so important and we came so close, we hit the crossbar, we had other chances, we might have had a penalty but these are not excuses, so we put this game away and move on to Middlesbrough on Monday.

“There was so much positive energy in the stadium today and I know together we can do this, we can get over the line.”

He added: “Every point is important. In the second half we made a lot of chances, but this is football and to win you have to be clinical.

“Then there is one moment that goes against us, a set-piece where we were not man marking.

“But we showed a reaction after two defeats and we got the basics right. If we do that in the last seven games we will give ourselves a chance.”
