Danny’s pride in team as survival bid continues

Danny Rohl heaped praise on his players and backroom team after a fourth win in five matches kept us in the fight to preserve our place in the Championship.

The 1-0 win at Rotherham this afternoon was also a third clean sheet in that run and Rohl said afterwards: “We are the hunter and we will keep fighting, keep giving everything to stay in the Championship.

“This is four wins from five games and my players have been outstanding. I am very proud of our team, it is unbelievable what we are doing.

“I enjoy every day because I have a fantastic team around me, both on and off the pitch. It makes me very proud and it is great to have such an environment around me.”

The manager also spoke of how the crucial goal from Ike Ugbo came within minutes of him making three substitutions, saying: “When you are a manager you have an idea how you can maybe make an impact. I had a feeling that Ike needed a bit of freedom in the number 10 position.

“We made the substitutions, it was a great overlap from Dom and in this case my idea worked well. Then we changed back to bring the game home.

“For me, the spirit, belief and conviction in my team is outstanding.”

Looking forward to two home games during the next week – against Plymouth on Tuesday evening and then Leeds on Friday night – the manager said: “We have given ourselves a good chance and we now have two home games under the lights to look forward to, with Plymouth and Leeds.

“We have a huge week ahead and we need the points.”
